Wow, i thought we put this thing to bed yesterday. Its exploded today. Im not really going to comment on anything else today, because it seems to have been covered. Here are a few random thoughts.......
1. Big Sweaty Mike is the newest member of the Oboys. He will put your azz in a bear hug if you dont watch your back. I almost think of it as the old n.W.o. We call out a superstar and throw him an Oboy Tshirt and WAM.......newest member......BSM!
2. J Grunge may be the only man that can beat Barrack Obama in the 2012 election. He is an f'n legend and should be the first inductee into the CCW Hall of Fame!

Everyone of those guys were in CCW before NFW. Grunge and Blaze NEVER worked for NFW. They worked for Midwest Pro. The rest, all CCW guys. You do have a point. If WAlt couls bring in that talent, why didn't he do it at CCW? Wait for the spin by the oboys. Hell you want to play it like that.....go back and check the history books ! Everyone of those guys on the NFW show was CCW back in the day. Master Rich, Champion where some of the originals. That's not a "spin" that's a FACT when I first came to the Coliseum as a wrestling trainee back on May 29th 2002, Chris Champion was my first teacher, and Master Rich was one of my classmates, that was a little over four years before NFW started

we can go on with this all night. We are all passionate about this business. For someone to say CCW roster is a mirror image of NFW is false. COMPLETELY FALSE!!!!!! I hope Walt does great. He obviously had a problem with not being able to run CCW anymore so he bolted. Fine. So he starts his own Fed. Fine again. Nobody has run up against CCW and succeeded yet. therefore I doubt Walt will try. The better VIP does, the better CCW will do. These guys start coming down once a month and making money, who's to say they won't want to come down twice a month, or three times a month. CCW is always open, not only open once a month. So I agree that competition is good for everybody. unless your name's "Diehard" Dustin Lee

Wow. The more things change, the more they stay the same on this board. Posters at odds, superfans wanting to see GOOD wrestling and of course a few people running marathons with their mouths while their intelligence runs a short sprint. Hello wrestling fans! DiCapo aka Fangz here. I will welcome myself back to the board because I've been gone for too long, so I'm back, I'm back in black.
Although I am not affiliated with a wrestling company, I can testify as an involved part of the CCW-years when CCW was a fun environment. During a time when Wednesday nights at the Coliseum featured matches that posters still talk about to this day. An era that many fans wish CCW could revisit again.
The late-Eric Acker always ran the show and a few different people held the book for Eric. But when times were at their best, attendance was good and even talks of taking the show on the road (Australia), Eric had delegated the booking to a "committee." The WWE now labels these individuals agents/producers for live events. Their job is to lay out the matches for a particular style of match. And at that particular time - circa 2001 to 2003 - the CCW card was usually laid out with different style matches each week - memphis style, hardcore, strong style, tag team, comedy, and gimmick matches. Grunge and Viper booked the tag team division, Bart Sawyer booked the Memphis style, Eric and Biscuit would book the comedy matches and Eric would use his Commish title to bridge angles and programs, and Necro/Corp/Pondo would lay out the hardcore matches. Lonestar and Terry Bull also pitched to the mix. A lot of veterans and good wrestling minds focusing on one expertise, allowing each part of the show to be the best it could possibly be. And, just like Vince McMahon, Eric was the checks and balances and always had the final say to buffer and revise to better suit his vision.
Wrestling is an ego-driven business. It's hard to keep everyone on the same page and keep the talent doing what is in the best interest of themselves AS WELL AS the best interest of THE COMPANY. At one point, some very good wrestling talent had serious issues with management. Whether it was over how they were used or over money, it was still an issue that some never forgave. Some of those individuals would never return to work for CCW consistently again. Then, Eric's untimely passing and CCW's heart-and-soul was gone. CCW never recovered. It may never see the era many know as the Golden Age of CCW.
To build an army you must have four things. You must have a leader. You must have soldiers. You must have a cause/reason for them to fight. You must have a plan. The leader, or general, must convince his soldiers in the reason/cause of the fight. The general must share a plan on how to accomplish the goal the army wants to achieve. The goal/cause must be in the best interest of the army as a whole, not just the soldier. The general must build rapport and must earn the respect of the soldier for optimal conditions to accomplish the goal. Finally, the general must be dedicated to the army's cause himself and this dedicatin must be backed up by his actions. These are also the rules of engagement for any successfull company. Substitute general for manager and soldiers with employees. But, since we're talking about the rasslin' business, the general is the owner or booker and the soldiers are the talent.
Are any of the above conditions possibly missing from various wrestling company's product that you see as underperforming? The answer is probably a definitive YES!
In closing, the pleasure was all yours. I'll be back periodically to post, while paying my two cents on various subjects to the great enjoyment and adulation of my loyal goodfella followers. Not to mention, my writings make the world just a little brighter place. You might not agree with everything I write, and some of my commentary will certainly not be popular, but I will always rest assured that you'll read my posts. Why? Because it's captivating, it's intelligent and it's all true.
In memory of the late-Paul Harvey - Goodday!

Heres a few thoughts. 1. Welcome back Fangz. Your voice is a good one around here and its good to have you back on the board. Anytime we can get another poster who can post in complete sentences, its a good thing!
2. Obo-A poster on the IWA MS board-one of the best ones on their board-says there was some buzz about VIP at the King of the Death matches this weekend. He says from what he has heard, VIP is going to the hot! Thats good news, if its getting buzz among the IWA guys!

Just a few suggestions and requests for the VIP crew .... I'm dying for a card! I have been trying to curb my appetite for quality wrestling by watching and searching for more promotions around the area..... Of course I always watch the usual: ROH, CHIKARA, IWA MS, etc. While gearing up for CHIKARA's "King of Trios" I noticed a special attraction match! A tag team match from a promotion called Lethal Wrestling Alliance (LWA) who to my surprise run right outside of St. Louis in O'fallon, IL. I was immediately intrigued.... 1. because they were affiliated with CHIKARA 2. because they were rather close to us! So I found their website! . www.lwawrestling.com/. They really have something going on! Their website immediately draws you in! Their logo is different, pairing with the font. The page is very easy to read and navigate. They post youtube videos to help push the story lines they are working...but that's just the beginning! Here is where it gets interesting! There pitch is wrestling "a little on the crazy side" Being an inquiring mind, I felt the need to dig deeper! I signed up for the message board to see what all the fuss is about! They have a small, yet affective and entertaining roster. The wrestlers gimmicks are fresh and innovative. They bring in bigger name stars such as Arik Cannon and Sarah Del Ray to help push feuds. and they occasionally bring in local "college" bands to play the intermissions! Now don't get me wrong I love music, but at first I was a little confused as to why they would do this....then I saw something else that sort of connected the dots. $1 jello shots!!!!!! This company is capitalizing on all the college students in and around the St. Louis area. It's genius! The Otters are doing it with .50 cent beer night and if you have ever attended a game you can look around and see who is there for the beer and who is there for the game! With 2 colleges right here in town, and as many as 4 surrounding us. It seems like a no-brainer! People would come just for the cheap alcohol and whats better than turning the unexpected into die hard fans? Check out the website! Youtube "Lethal Wrestling Alliance" Watch the commercials they have running around the St. Louis area. Watch the energy of the audience in the highlights! It would put arses in the seats! It's time to get this train a'rollin! (Oh, and another thing! at the bottom of their page, there is a link to the company who did there website! Would be wise to get a hold of them! You need a website with authority!)

**************************************************** Shank "THE FREAK" Barzini vs The Ultimate Hi-Flyer Ricochet
These will definitely be a clash of two totally different styles as Ricochet known for his speed and uncanny agility meets a man who revels in Power and Pain, especially someone else's. The card looks awesome. I will be there. Drake vs. Chuck is a great Main Event. I am a fan of MsChif, Ricochet, OMG, JP Lightning, Shank, and Full Throttle, so this show looks great as far as I'm concerned.
PS: Happy Birthday to the honorary O Boy Big Sweaty Mike.

WOW!! Thank you VIP for the quick response! The card looks like it is shaping up amazingly well! Of course being a big fan of Chuck and Drake that match will not dissapoint. I think I'm more intrigued by the Ricochet v. Shank match! I'm gonna go ahead and say it ...match of the night! With Shanks strongstyle and Rico's high flying ability I think this could be a start of something beautiful! This could be a great feud that the Indy's have never seen before! The rest of the card looks solid as well. Jp and OMG should complement eachother very well against Full Throttle, who rule by the way! Can't wait to see Ms Chif back in Evansville, It has been far to long. I'm really looking forward to see who her opponent is! Just a few names I would like to see....Sara Del Rey, Mickie Knuckles, Haley Hatred, Allison Danger,Lufisto..... Hell just bring in Dave Prazak and make him the GM (talk about connections, he has 'em)
I have at least 10 recruits besides my fellow Oboys so I need some tickets! So about 150.00 in ticket sales are already sold....front row to the Oboys and friends! Also would like to go ahead and place my order for the DVD... Let me know when all of this becomes available Thanks!
Last but not least..... A big happy birthday to the man known as Big Sweaty Mike!!!

This just made my day here. What a crappy day at work, then i jump on the net and see this. What a card so far. Drake vs Chuck could headline any card across the US! I cant wait to see it. OMG and JP should be a great team. I have seen OMG in a long long time and i look forward to seeing him back in Evansville! Their opponents, Full Throttle, are great. Should be a killer tag match. Then you got Rico vs Shank. This is a match where Shank can instantly proves he belongs among the elite on this card. Rico is well traveled and will be a good test for the young Shank. Mischif is one of the best womens wrestlers in the US. It will be an honor to be a part of this show. I know Morris is out on the recruiting trail, as am I. I simply cant wait for this show!

The VIP card looks solid. But, besides the talent on the card talking and a few on this board and a few other boards posting, how is this event being promoted?
Grabbing a broader audience - such as a college crowd - and expanding past the regular 100-125 die-hard Evansville wrestling fans will be tough since April 18th is the UFC 97 ppv where Chuck 'Iceman' Liddell returns to face Mauricio Shogun Rua and Anderson Spider Silver defends his title. WWE certainly realizes UFC as their number one competitor, I hope the local promoters account for this calendar conflict also.

Its been posted on the IWA board and i think some oboys are going to be putting out flyers for the show. Being on a UFC night does kind of suck, since UFC is a big draw. I know a few of my friends were comming with me to VIP, but now that UFC is on, they arent. UFC is getting so watered down though. Hell, they have a PPV every 2 weeks at this point. Ive seen every one since UFC 52, and im a big MMA fan. The way i look at it is wrestling like this doesnt come around very often, but i can always watch UFC. I dont see UFC hurting the crowd to bad.
