I know this is pretty short notice since the show is tomorrow night, but I just found this: Tomorrow night, a nice treat for all IWAU fans. One of the country's best tag teams, Zero Gravity - Brett Gakiya & CJ Esparza - will be making their IWAU debuts. When asked what their purpose was, Gakiya answered, "we want the best competition possible". The Kentucky Buffet has answered the call. Don't miss this first time straight up tag team match of the KYB vs. Zero G. That should be a really good match! I do believe that I'm going to Olney after I get done at work tomorrow night!

Don't get me wrong. I love the fact that IWAU brings in some of the hottest young talent around. I just wish they would book some of that talent for their Mt.Vernon shows.

Yeah, I hadn't heard much about Zero G lately either. That's why I was pretty happy to see that bit of news. I'll post a show review tomorrow. I've noticed that IWAU is pretty quick to promote and post results from the Olney shows but don't even mention a word about the Mt. Vernon ones. I'm not sure what that's all about.

Cavedweller, I do not understand not promoting the Mt.Vernon show neither. One would think since they are so close to St.Louis, they could bring in a few guys from that market.
They did change the days they ran on from Fridays to Sundays in order to boost crowd size not sure if its working. I grew up in Southern Illinois and the economy has never been great, so a $ 2.00 wrestling show would be prime family entertainment, if only they would advertise it.In Southern Illinois there are so many little news papers and radio stations you could promote in and on.

I know what you mean, Storm. It seems as though something like IWAU would be perfect for Southern Illinois. I haven't heard any word on how their shows are doing in Mt. Vernon. I did hear some talk outside the show last night in Olney that they're thinking of charging $2.00 for the Wed. night shows, but there wasn't any mention of that made during the show. Anyway, here's what happened: The show started off with Marcus Crane coming out and cutting a promo in which he didn't say much of anything important, other than him challenging Shank Barzini to a match. The light then went out and this led to.... Marcus Crane vs. Shank BarziniMan, Shank is OVER in Olney....I'm talking RVD in ECW circa 1999 over! Anyway, he hit the ring and Crane attacked him. Shank fought back and dominated most of the match. Crane got a little offense in in the middle, but once Shank got back in control, he killed him! The match ended with Shank hitting a sick-looking Death Valley Driver for the pin and the win. Pain w/ D.A. Morrison vs. Austin Advent w/ The IntimidaterPain is one of the large masked guys I saw at the last IWAU show I attended. He kind of looks like one of the Assassins or The Headhunters. His manager, D.A. is the sort of Dave Prazak-ish guy. Before the match, The Intimidater came out and said he was going to be in Advent's corner to keep Morrison in check. Advent was said to be returning to IWAU. I have never seen him before. He was a kind of small guy. He didn't do anything too special. Pain worked him over most of the match. The Intimidater chasing Morrison around the ring was kind of a distraction from the match. In the end, Pain hit Advent with a splash in the corner and pinned him. Next, Christian Rose came out and cut a promo. He said that Danny Cannon has retired from the business due to something personal. I heard some talk before the show that he was injured, but I don't know. This all seemed legit and not a work. It's a shame because the one time I saw Cannon, he was VERY impressive! Rose then went on to say that he was going to have to vacate the IWAU tag titles and that now the Zero G Vs. KY Buffet match was going to be for the titles. He then went on to talk about how Cannon was suppose to fact Davey Richards on the April 9th (That match would have been awesome!) and now that he's gone, Rose was going to take his place. In the back of my mind, I heard the chant of "Davey's gonna kill you!!!" I mean, Rose is decent, solid, young worker who I'm sure will get better, but right now, he's still got a ways to go. But, there again too, Richards can pull a five star match out of a mop, so maybe that match will be good. Anyway, Rose went on to challenge anyone in the back which led to... Christian Rose vs. Jason V w/ SerenityJason V and Serenity came out. Jason is a stereotypical gay heel character. He's kind of a cross between Adrian Street and Paredyse (from OVW). He's kind of built and moves a little like "Spyder" Nate Webb. Serenity was his valet. She kind of reminded me of a smaller, less-attractive Rachel Summerlyn. The match wasn't anything too special. There were a bunch of comedy spots to start it off, with Jason hugging Rose at one point and grabbing his ass....he's no Danshoku Dino, that's for sure.....maybe that's a good thing actually! Anyway, after the silliness, the match was alright. In the end, Rose hooked V in a Boston crab and he tapped out. Scott Parker & Jason Lyte w/ Oliver Cain and a bodyguard vs. Joey O'Reily & Matt MavrickThis was a really random match. Last time I saw Parker, I thought, "He's not that great." and just when you think they couldn't find anyone worse then him....oh look, it's Matt Maverick. I also didn't think it was possible for Maverick to be any more sloppy and out-of-shape looking, but he is. Anyway, O'Reily and Lyte worked most of the match, which was good. They worked well together, but whenever Maverick or Parker got tagged in the, the match went downhill. In the end, Cain got into the ring and while him and Lyte were beating down O'Reily, Maverick locked Parker in a full nelson and he passed out. Yep, that's how terrible the end of the match actually was! Everyone then were beating down O'Reily and Maverick until AT Brooks ran in with a chair for the save. AT then challenged Cain to a title match, which led to... IWAU title match AT Brooks vs. Oliver Cain (c) w/ the bodyguard guyBrooks is built like a flagpole. The guy makes David Day (scrawny West Virginia worker) look like "Juicy" Jimmy "Rough Tough Clough" Feltcher. He's really young and is a decent worker, but until he gets some body mass on him, it's going to be hard for me (or anyone else really) to take him too seriously. Cain on the other hand, looked great. He's got a little more mass on him and sort of reminded me of a smaller Andy Sumner (from CZW). Cain was working a sort of MMA style and basically beat the crap out of Brooks. At one point, he pinned his arm behind his head and started punching in the face. It was brutal and Brook's ear was so red that it looked to be almost bleeding, but it wasn't. The match then took a weird turn. Atone point, the ref thought it was over and called for the bell, but the match wasn't over. That was a bit confusing. Then in the very end, Cain hit Brooks with a low blow and got himself D.Q.ed to keep the title. Cain and his bodyguard then beat Brooks down more until O'Reily made the save. The Intimidater then came out and said that next week, O'Reily and Brooks would be facing Cain and his bodyguard in a tag match. Main Event IWAU Tag Title match Zero Gravity (Brett Gakiya & CJ Esparza) vs. Kentucky Buffet (Matt Cage & Alex Castle)It was really cool to see Zero G again. Gakiya looks about the same as always. CJ's put on a little body mass though and was slightly bigger than the last time I saw him. The match was nothing short of awesome! All of the guys worked hard. Believe it or not, Matt Cage looked really impressive and worked well with both Zero G guys. Castle on the other hand, looked a bit lost at certain points. That's not to say he's a bad worker because he's not at all. He just looked to be at a lose on how to sell such quick, high-flying moves and ended up botching a couple of Gakiya's spots. Still, this was a minor complaint for what was an otherwise great match. Zero G did pull off a few of their always impressive high flying moves and pulled off a few tandem moves that were timed really, really well. Once the match really broke down and all four guys were going at it, the action was fast-paced and non-stop! At one point, Cage hit Gakiya with one of the most brutal clotheslines I think I've ever seen which led to a pin and a VERY close kick-out. The crowd was going NUTS!!! In the end, Cage and Gakiya did the old, "Fish out of water" series of pin attempts. Once they both got to their feet, Cage rolled him up again and got the pin and the new IWAU Tag champs are The Kentucky Buffet. Awesome, awesome match!!! If they do a rematch, count me in!!! They've already posted a couple of videos from the show on You Tube: Shank vs. Crane www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWiAYJP5bAY&feature=channel_video_titlePain vs. Advent www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7w2qzGAOpE&feature=channel_video_title

Thanks for posting. I sure wish some people around here would start using Shank and Zero G. All of them are better than anything booked in this area and i dont see any of them breaking the bank. Doesnt make much sense to me really why they are all so under used.

I don't understand it either, Ike. I'd say bring in the Kentucky Buffet and have them do another match with Zero G. Granted, you couldn't make that match a main event around here. But if you put it somewhere in the middle of the card, my guess is that if anyone was paying attention, they'd probably be asking, "Who are these guys?" and by the end of the match saying, "These guys are awesome!" Much like we all did at the first VIP show back in 2009. One of the biggest downsides to the match last night was that the room in which IWAU runs their shows is small with a low ceiling. I think that's part of why Zero G didn't do more insane, high-flying moves.
Really, I think a lot of the guys who are working those IWAU shows would work good on any show around here. (EDIT: NOT Parker or Maverick!!! Gotta make myself clear there! Ha ha!!) And then you throw in the guys from St. Louis who have been working those shows....The Submission Squad, Gary Jay, Dingo....mix those guys in with some "legends" like Tracy Smothers or Mitch Ryder....guys who have proved to be willing to work with younger talent and not just squash them and you've got yourself a pretty darn decent show. And I can't imagine any of those guys costing as much to bring in as someone like Lawler or Steiner.
But like you said over on the other board, Ike...what do we know??? In the words of Brian Pillman, we're "all just a bunch of smart marks."
