I just thought I'd give everyone a head's up about the next IPW show in Indianapolis that they're doing on New Year's Day. They're planning an absolutely STACKED show! Every single match they've announced so far is a winner in my book...and the main event has the potential to be a five star match! Insanity Pro Wrestling proudly presents... "Showdown in Naptown" Saturday, January 1st, 2011 The Fountain Square Salvation Army Corps Gymnasium 1337 S. Shelby Street Indianapolis, IN 46203 Doors open at 6:00 PM Pre-show matches begin at 6:15 PM Bell-time at 7:00 PM Admission Front Row $15.00 General Admission $12.00 Kids 10 and Under $7.00 ***MAIN EVENT - TAG TEAM WRESTLING SHOWCASE*** THE AMERICAN WOLVES (DAVEY RICHARDS & EDDIE EDWARDS) vs. THE IRISH AIRBORNE (DAVE & JAKE CRIST) ***IPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH - STIPULATION TBA*** Champion JON MOXLEY vs. JIMMY JACOBS ***IPW JUNIOR-HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH*** Champion RICOCHET vs. AR FOX "THE NEW HORROR" SAMI CALLIHAN vs. KYLE O'REILLY "CLASSIC" COLT CABANA vs. JESSE EMERSON Also scheduled to appear... DRAKE YOUNGER DUSTIN RAYZ SCOTTY VORTEKZ RICH SWANN ...and more! Please visit www.insanityprowrestling for more info! For those that might not know, Rich Swann is a young guy who works mostly in the Philly/New Jersey area and is awesome! The dude can do a STANDING 450 splash!!!! It would actually be kind of cool if they added him to the Rico/Fox match, but even without him, that match is going to be pure, high-flying, flippy goodness! Anyway, I realize that most people will be nursing hangovers and trying to recoup from their New Year's Eve parties, but me being a loser with no life, I'll be doing neither of those things. So, my plan is to check out this show. They should start selling tickets for the show on their web site within the next few days.

What a way to start off the new year! Last night's show was stacked to the gills and delivered on every level possible! So much happened that I can't remember every high spot and finishing move, but I'm going to do my best.
Pre show ?? vs. Rick Cassidy(?) The sound system sucked and I didn't catch the names very well. The one guy's name started with a B...because it was on his tights. Cassidy is the kid who usually works the concession stand and apparently, is one of Billy Roc's top students. The match was surprisingly decent. Both guys worked really hard and were hitting each other with some super-stiff attacks. Cassidy did over-sell a few moves, but overall, he looked a lot better then he did the last time I saw him work one of these pre-show matches. In the end, Cassidy got the win, but I don't remember how.
That was the only pre-show match. Next, Mike Williams (owner of IPW) came out and thanked everyone for coming out. While I've seen bigger crowds at IPW shows, this one was pretty strong. My best guess, I'd put it somewhere in the 150-175 range. Mike then announced that Terek the Legend is in the hospital with a serious case of the flu and that he wouldn't be at the show. There went one of the matches I was most looking forward to seeing. Oh well....on to the show.
Rich Swann vs. Dustin Rayz What a way to open the show! I knew this one would be good. This was Swann's first time in IPW, but I've seen him a few times in CZW and the kid's impressive! Both guys looked great and were pulling off some awesome moves. I kind of wish Swann would have done a few more high-flying moves, but he did do his standing 450 splash at one point. In the end, Rayz got the win with a quick roll-up. After the match, Swann tried to shake his hand, but Rayz just slapped his hand and left. During the match, some of Swann's moves weren't as smooth as I've seen him do before, but they were still enough to earn him a small "Please come back!" chant. Great opening match!
Tony Kozina vs. Dave Davidson After losing the Kozina/Terek match, seeing Davidson against Kozina was a little bit of a letdown. Kozina looked great though, as usual. Davidson attacked him before the bell and the fight was on. There wasn't all that many big moves and the crowd kind of died, but the match was still good. There were a lot of submission moves used. In the end, Kozina got the win.
Jeremy Hadley vs. Chuck Taylor As much as I almost hate to say it, Hadley's "screaming Roman gladiator" gimmick, while goofy as can be, is pretty darn entertaining. And plus, the guy has really gotten over with the Indianapolis fans. The funniest thing about this match was the fact that Hadley was actually out talking and "comedy spot-ing" Taylor. Chuckie looked that a serious veteran compared to Hadley. At one point, Taylor had him in a submission move that locked both his arms and legs. Hadley had to bite the bottom rope to get the hold broken. At the end of the match, Taylor hit the "soul food" into a piledriver move on Hadley for the win.
Scotty Vortekz vs. Simon Sezz At the beginning of the match, Simon seemed goofier then ever....which is saying something for him. Vortekz looked good, despite the fact that three weeks ago, he fell off the side of a cage onto a guardrail, ribs first. How he didn't break his ribs is beyond me because that fall was nasty! Anyway, the match was absolutely brutal. Both guys chopped, punched and kicked the h*ll out of each other. The action went back and forth. Lots of near pinfalls, but in the end, Vortekz got the win. After the match, Simon was helped to the back. Vortekz was laying in the corner, when Drake Younger (in his new, heel "Golden Boy" gimmick) ran in and attacked him. Younger jumped out of the ring and grabbed a chair, set it up and dropped Scotty onto it. Next, Kyle Threat (the former xOMGx) ran in to stop him. When he turned his back on him, Drake kicked him between the legs and then hit a Drake's Landing on him onto the chair. He then beat both guys with what was left of the chair and then ran out of the ring and through the front door. I kind of figured they'd do that kind of an angle, since Drake's now the top heel in CZW. Also, it's like Danny Havoc said in his newest shoot interview, fans know what goes on in other companies, so it doesn't make sense to have two guys feud in one and be partners in the other. In any event, it looks as though that between IPW and CZW, I'm going to be seeing a lot of Drake vs. Scotty matches in 2011...which is fine with me because their TLC match at the JC Bailey memorial show was AWESOME!!!!
Jesse Emerson (w/ Greg Carey) vs. Colt Cabana Cabana was over HUGE!!! Jesse looked great. I'm still not sure why he's not used in other places other than Indianapolis, Nashville and Alabama. The guy's an awesome talent. Anyway, Cabana did all of his usual comedy spots to start off the match. Once the match really got going, the action was back and forth and both guys looked good. At the end, Cabana grabbed Carey and pulled him up on the ring. Emerson attacked him before he punched Carey. Cabana escaped and went for a butt butt, but Emerson moved and he hit Carey. Emerson then rolled him up and grabbed his tights for the win. After the match, Cabana chased Emerson off and then grabbed Carey and threw him out the back door.
Next was intermission. I checked some stuff over on the merch tables and bought some DVDs from Sami Callihan. I also had a nice little conversation with Rich Swann. What a super-nice guy! He was taking pictures with fans, dancing with little kids and just having a great time. I told him that I was at Cage of Death and he said that his shoulder was still hurting from the match he had at that show. He then said, "Man, you're a dedicated fan." I said, "Well, I just have no life and this is my escape." He said, "I feel ya, brother!" I told him that it was great to have him work in Indiana and he told me that he's going to be coming back to IPW in the coming months. If there's ever a Swann vs. Ricochet match booked...I'M THERE!!! I then talked to a guy that sat next to me at the last King of the Deathmatches. It's amazing what a little cult indy wrestling fans are! Ha ha!!!
Sami Callihan vs. Kyle O'Reilly (w/ Tony Kozina) I'm guessing that Kozina is Kyle's trainer. Anyway, both guys hit each other with some of the stiffest attacks I think I've ever seen. The match was full of back and forth action, insane submission moves and near-falls. There was a little brawling on the outside of the ring too. Towards the end, the match started looking like an MMA shoot fight. Kyle had Sami locked in this submission move and hit him over and over with stiff elbow shots to the top of his head. Sami looked as though he was going to pass out and the crowd was chanting "This is awesome!" Somehow, Sami reversed the hold and locked Kyle in that stretcher move he's been using lately where he locked his opponent's leg behind his head and then does a cross-face type hold. Once he locked it in, Kyle tapped. AWESOME MATCH!!!!!!
IPW Jr. Heavyweight title Ricochet (c) vs. AR Fox This was another one that I knew would be awesome....and oh man, IT WAS!!!! Seeing Ricochet live is going to become a bit of a rare thing since he's working so much in Japan for Dragon Gate now, so I was hoping they'd make this match special. So much happened that I can't even remember it all. Rico didn't do too many high-flying moves, but Fox sure did. He pulled off all the moves I've seen him do in CZW lately and pulled them all off to perfection! The match went back and forth and neither guy ever really had a true advantage. There were so many near-falls, but in the end, Rico got the pin and retained his title. Both guys got a well-deserved standing ovation from the fans! Absolutely awesome match!
IPW World Title Dog Collar match Jon Moxley(c) vs. Jimmy Jacobs I knew this one was going to be brutal. Mox came out in jeans so I figured he was planning to bleed buckets. Jimmy attacked him before the bell and the fight was on. Jimmy looked to have hurt his knee pretty bad on one of the first spots to the outside. He continued the match though. They brawled around the building some, but didn't go outside this time...it was too cold, I guess. When they got back to the ring, Jacobs pulled Mox into the ring post by the chain that was linking them and Mox fell under the ring. When he came up, he was bleeding. He only bladed in one spot, but man, he must have bladed himself deep because the blood flowed....and it flowed in buckets! Jacobs then pulled out his spike from his boot and when after Mox, but he moved and the spike was stuck in the turnbuckle. Later, Mox pulled it out and hit Jacobs with it, busting him open as well. At one point, Jacobs locked Mox in his submission move where he wraps his legs around his opponent's waist while he's standing and locks his head under his arm. When he had Mox in this hold, Mox climbed the ropes to the second rope and reversed the move into a super-plex. Later, Jacobs got the spike back, locked his legs around Mox again and started pounding the spike into his head. It was sick! Once Mox fell to the mat, Jacobs locked in the submission and choked him out for the win. Jacobs is the new IPW World champ. After the match, Mox was helped to the back and "Sweet" Lou Roberts came into the ring to interview Jacobs, but he wouldn't let him finish his sentences. Jacob's pushed Lou down and then Dustin Rayz ran in and attacked Jacobs. Rayz and Roberts beat him down until Sami Callihan ran in for the save.
Main event The American Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) vs. The Irish Airboure (Jake and Dave Crist) I knew this one was going to be epic and needless to say, it was! In the early part, Jake and Dave doubled up on Richards and worked him over. But, once he got the tag to Edwards, The Wolves absolutely dissected both of the Crist brothers, especially Jake. Edwards hit him with one of the most sickening chops I've ever seen and when he was on the outside, Richards did a running kick to his chest off the ring apron right in front of me that was one of the most brutal things I've ever seen. The match did start to go back and forth though and at one point, both Crist brothers did dives onto the Wolves right in front of me. The match went on and on with both teams getting near falls and pulling of some of the most brutal moves I've ever seen. In the end, Jake Crist called for something called "Irish Coffee" (I think he said that) in which Jake picked up Richards in a pile driver move and Dave climbed the ropes and double-stomped his butt, pushing him into the mat. The timing of the move wasn't perfect, but it was still very impressive! Jake then covered Richards for the pin. After the match, Richards was obviously loopy but he got on the mic and put The Airborne over BIG time, talking about how they had all started working for ROH at the same time, but their career's went different directions. He then said that he wanted a rematch and the crowd gave both teams a standing ovation. They all shook hands and hugged in the ring. It was an amazing moment and a great way to cap off and nearly perfect match. I know it's way too early to say what the match of the year for 2011 is going to be, but every other match like this is going to be judged against this one in my eyes. Yes, it was really that awesome!
On my way out of the building, Mike Williams actually tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Hey! Thanks for driving up here from Evansville. I hope you enjoyed the show." I'm not completely sure how he knew I did that, but I shook his hand and said, "Oh yeah, man, it was great! Thanks!"
That was sure a great way to start off a new year!

Your posts are starting to depress me. JESUS man, this show was LOADED!! If i booked a dream show, this would be pretty close to all of the guys id like to see and i missed it. Getting old really sucks! This reminds me of the old IWA MS shows i used to go to where, you would be sitting there after 2 or 3 matches and know that you still have like 7-8 matches left to blow your mind. Im sitting here shaking my head at myself because i missed it. Im going to have to get with you and catch a ride or something. The oboys are missing out to much these days!

I know what you mean, Ike! When they first announced this show months ago and said the main event was going to be the Wolves vs. Airborne, I knew this was going to be quite a show. And man, did it ever live up to the hype! Even after the Swann/Rayz match, I thought, "D*mn....that's just the first match!" When it was all over, I looked at the clock in my car and it wasn't even quite 11 o'clock yet and I had felt like I had been in there for at least 5 or 6 hours. You're right too, it did have the feel of the old IWA:MS shows. I can relate to you feeling as though you missed something because I pick up DVDs of those old IWA shows from time to time and it makes me shake my head and wonder, "What was I doing back then that I DIDN'T go to these? " I just didn't know such things went on until about 2006. So hey, at least you got that one over on me! Ha ha!!!! IPW is sure putting it all out there right now and trying their best to put on awesome shows and judging by this one, it's working. I doubt they'll be able to put on shows of this caliber every single month, but if they can do it at least 3 or 4 times a year, it would be awesome. Granted, the blood mark in me still loves to go to the silly "blood and gut" shows, but for an all-around wrestling show, this one sure had it all.

Thanks for the info on the guy in the pre-show match. The sound system was kind of rough and being so that the sound was bouncing off those gym walls, it made it worse. I was doing the best I could. I'm sure I'll go to more IPW shows. This was either my 5th or 6th show. I can't make it to all of them, but whenever there's something booked that I feel is worth the trip and I have nothing else going on, I'll be there.
