MECW's Main Event Experience rolled into Monroe City, Indiana's Blue Jean Center for a television taping for the Main Event Experience television show premiering next Saturday September 4th on My44 (the same channel you watch SmackDown on). The TV show starts at 11 AM Evansville Time
In the opening match of the night Shank "The Freak" Barzini defeated MECW newcomer Angel in only 32 seconds. Welcome to Main Event Championship Wrestling Angel!
In the second match "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy "Psycho, Smasher, Shooter, Smokin'" Smothers took on JP Lightning. Smothers proved that not only does he have more nicknames than anyone in the busines but also that when you wrestle him you wrestle his whole family as Jesse Bell and The Muscle were a constant presence during the match and proved to be too much for Lightning as Smothers got the win after a vicious clothesline from the rebel flag.
The third match was Matt Boyce taking on Steve-O. Steve-O came out to a huge ovation and Boyce came out, no pun intended, with Christopher Love. After a long fought match, Steve-O took the victory with The Last Effect on Boyce.
Match four saw Chris Thomas facing off against the returning Just John. Thomas took advantage of John's ring rust and drove his face through the mat for the pin. After the match Chris Thomas called out referee Billy Blaze whom he blamed for his loss. After some jawing it was signed that Chris Thomas will take on Billy Blaze when MECW returns to Monroe City September 25th.
In the Semi-Main Event former WWE Star and Spirit Squad Member Kenny Dykstra brought his mom with him to Monroe City to take on "The King Of Knoxville" Shane WIlliams. After a great match Dykstra got the pin with a lotta help from the leverage of his feet on the second rope.
The Main Event of the evening featured "Headliner" Chris Michaels with Jesse Bell and The Muscle Smothers facing the hometown boy "The Natural" Chase Stevens. Stevens had a great deal of animosity towards Michaels for his role at the MECW show where Stevens took on Sid Vicious. As you remember, Stevens had the win in the bag against Sid until Michaels came out and gave Stevens a vicious superkick that led to Sid powerbombing Stevens. Michaels worked Stevens' left leg throughout the entire match and almost had the victory. The crowd powered Steven enough to help him get Michaels into his Death Valley Driver. Tracy Smothers then couldn't stay and blatantly hit Stevens with the rebel flag and Michaels was disqualified. Michaels and the Smothers clan then ganged up on Stevens and when noone came to his aid referee and Stevens' longtime friend Billy Blaze took up his defense. That caused the Smotheres and Michaels to retreat to the stage. Stevens then challenged Smothers to a match to end it all when MECW's Main Event Experience tour returns to Monroe City on September 25th.
All in all it was a great show. It was so loud in there that my ears are still ringing as I write this Sunday morning. Monroe City is a great wrestling town and I am glad to call Monroe City a regular stop on MECW's Main Event Experience Tour.
MECW's next Main Event Experience show will be at the Community Center in Cannelton, Indiana on September 18th. Belltime is 7 PM Eastern/6 Central. Doors open an hour before the show. All tickets are only $10 and will be available at the door.
Be sure to set your Tivo or DVR or VCR or whatever you have because in 6 short days, September 4th, MECW's Main Event Experience takes to the airwaves on My44 (the channel you watch SmackDown on) for 1 hour of killer local, independent wrestling action. It starts at 11 AM Central Time/12PM Eastern Time.
