Wow! I get wrapped up in work and don't have the time to get on here and 24 hours after I write a report of the show, there's comments for a thread I started that go into a second page......on THIS board! That's pretty cool actually.
As for the show last Wed., I agree with Morris, it was a suprisingly well booked show, which is something I sure didn't expect going in. As I said before, it still wasn't exactly the kind of wrestling show I enjoy the most, but for what it was, it was a darn good show.
Things sure are getting interesting with the wrestling scene here in Evansville. I don't have any plans to go to the MECW show, but I'm going to be watching close to see where things lead in the next few weeks.

You don't plan on going to the MECW show yet you made plans to attend a CCW legends show that contained two 70 years old wearing bandanas and strings in the main event?
OK.

That was his choice, no sense in looking down on him and making negative comments. And if I am not mistaken, Lawler is as old if not older than either of those guys.

Look, im going to be as nice as i can be because i really like the guys that are running the MECW show. Ive gave them a lot of props for the things they are doing right, but this arrogance is getting a bit old. Dweller and myself are on the same page 99% of the time. The reason he went to CCW wasnt because the Rock and Roll Express, it was for Lynn vs Sabu. Lets face the facts, the card for MECW 1 isnt great. Im going to support it because i have heard good things about the future and those dudes behind the show are real fan friendly. There are some guys on their show tho, that are darn near unwatchable. Theres no reason to act like elite. Aside from Jarrett, Chase, Chuck, Shank and King theres a lot to be desired. I dont meam that as any disrespect but i also cant sit here and let someone call out my boy Cavedweller because he choose CCW over MECW1. Especially when the talent on each show is pretty comparable.

Hold on now, I didn't call anyone out. You are right thats his choice. And he stated it. I stated my opinion and I am entitled to it, just as everyone here is. I try to be cicil and never meant any harm or disrespect.
I don't agree that there are guys on the MECW show that are unwatchable. I think they are young and have done things in wrestling that most will never come close to doing. Young talented guys trying to get a break.
also I don't agree that the shows are comparable. I believe the MECW lineup trumps the Legends lineup in the talent department. The name department is a different story but thats not what MECW is trying to do.
Again, thats just my opinion and its biased but thats ok. Everyone doesn't have to agree. if they did the world would be a boring place.

MECW will be "one and then done" but The Legends Shows will continue unchallenged! ;D

Until the legends break their hips in the ring and all ccw will be left with is Cody Strong, C.J. Pop, and Damage Inc.

Wow. I haven't posted on this Board since June of last year. Crazy. I'm back. I went to the 1st Legends show and the most recent Legends show. Since CaveDweller did a nice full show review, I'll just throw out some random thoughts:
When Ike told me there was going to be a Mystery Partner, I told him not to get his hopes up because it was probably Wolfie D. Unfortunately, I was right. But despite that, I did actually like how they built that match up. Except Brian Christopher rambles for too long.
One of the Regulators looked just like Budd (Micheal Madsen) from Kill Bill.
The valet chick was smokin. I'd like to see more of her. When she turned on The Regulators, I told Ike, "maybe she will come out in some hot leather later." It wasn't leather, but she came out in a short denim skirt later at least. And showed her ass. That was definitely the highlight of that match.
Noise, Booze, and Tattoos has to be the worst tag team name ever. But, man they have a lot of different tights. One dude had Ruff Crossing across his ass, which was kinda odd. His other tights had the Cherry RC Cola symbol on them. I love me some RC Cola too.
Cody Ray Strong looks JUST like Val Venis. The robe made him look even more like Val Venis. I kept waiting for him to say "Hello Ladies". The kid actually has potential though.
CJ Popp, on the otherhand, is god awful. If I was that out of shape, I wouldn't wear my underwear in front of 50 people. Having him in a match with legends like Tracy Smothers and Dirty Dutch Mandel was a terrible idea. Why was CJ Popp on the show, but JP Lightning wasn't? JP is one of the best wrestlers on the weekly shows and CJ Popp is one of the worst.
Tracy Smothers on the mic was gold as always and then some. When he pulled out the piece of paper and said, "there is a 1996 Pinto in the parked illegally and it's a PIECE OF CRAP. Get it out of my lot!", I died laughing.
Rudy looks like Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite. But, he is talented. One of the best CCW has. Xavier Cage is good too. I thought their match was the 2nd best Match of the Night. The interview with Johny Punch after the match was kinda awkward though.
I was only like 8 when Jamie Dundee was popular, but wasn't he kinda gangsta like back then? When did his throat get thrashed where he sounds just like Mitch Ryder? I love Mitch Ryder speaking of which.
Overall, there wasn't a lot of stalling in the matches, except for Kid Kash, but I actually kinda enjoyed that. He succeeded at getting the crowd to hate him and wasn't boring in doing it like a lot of people that stall. Once the match got going, it was really good. Jerry Lynn is the man.
The matches flowed really smoothly and there was only 1 Intermission. Some of the promos did go way longer than they needed to though. Especially Brian Christopher/Doug Gilbert after their match. I thought that would never end.
The Jerry Lynn/Kevin White match was just ok. Like CaveDweller said, Jerry Lynn is a master at selling injuries and he always makes his opponents look great. I thought Kevin White was decent against Brian Christopher (and his promo before that match kinda ruled), but he just seemed lost Wednesday. Where was Su Young or whatever her name is?
The Rock n Roll Express match lasting 30 seconds is the best outcome possible. As old as they are, they actually did move fairly quick. Still, I don't see them pulling out 5 star matches and I was glad it was short and sweet.
That was the 1st Evansville wrestling show that I've been to since VIP that I didn't leave wanting to gouge my eyes out and bust my eardrums for putting myself through a terrible show. A lot of it was actually really good for what it was. I like the fact that CCW let people know before they bought tickets that Sabu was a no show and I like the fact that they brought in a somewhat suitable replacement in Kid Kash. It was also cool that they had Jerry Lynn wrestle twice to make up for it. I never saw him winning the belt coming. That's a great surprise. Another reason is great is because it means he's back next month!
Major props on a pretty good show. I am actually looking forward to the next Legends show and I haven't said that about CCW in years.

You don't plan on going to the MECW show yet you made plans to attend a CCW legends show that contained two 70 years old wearing bandanas and strings in the main event? OK. That pretty much IS calling him out. You can't really blame him for not wanting to go to the first show of a company we know nothing about after the mess that has been evansville wrestling. I'm still on the fence myself because the ticket price is higher than I want to pay for not knowing what to expect. You can garuntee, though, that if the first show is good and people like it that I'll be at the second one. You're both entitled to your opinion though, so I'm not bashing you Chris. I'm sure you know how this board is though, just advising you to choose words carefully or there be a lot of stupidity flowing through mispelled words hating on you and losing fans for MECW before it starts.

if everyone decided not to go to the MECW show because of all the other crap in evansville, then how fair would that be to MECW? They are spending more money on advertisement and the roster than anyone has done in evansville in years. They are fan friendly, which can't be said about many other feds in evansville in a long time. I plan to go to MECW because they are showing they care about the fan. They promised big announcements and delivered. They are promising more big announcements at the show. I have no reason to believe they will not deliver.

ok, i don't see ANY promotion in Evansville being ANYTHING like TNA, ROH or WWE so why all the drama?? when there's something around here worth supporting, then i'll put up a fight for it.
Until then........................................................................

Looks as though I've missed some interesting things in the last few days that I haven't been around on here. Well, the first thing I've got to do is answer Chris' post about asking me about going a CCW show and not the MECW show. Ike hit the nail upon the head. The only, ONLY, **ONLY** reason I went to the CCW show last week as for the Sabu vs. Jerry Lynn match. If it hadn't been for that match, I would have never even given a thought about going to that show. When I got there and found out that Sabu wasn't there, I wanted to leave, but I figured that since I was there and didn't have anything else to do, I'd stay, to at least get to see some Jerry Lynn awesome-ness. In the end, as I said before, the show was far from the best I've ever seen, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be and for the most part, I enjoyed it. Would I go back to the next Legends show? Maybe...if they book someone I want to see that I've never seen before. If all they do is book Lawler and Jarrett to "go up against MECW", then I'll pass because neither of those guys interest me. They did back in 1987, but not so much today. I know they're WAY over with most wrestling fans here in Evansville, so to have them around is a great thing, but again, it's not what I enjoy. That's my personal opinion for anyone to agree or disagree with...either way is cool with me. As for the MECW show, as I've said before, I hope it's a great success and the company takes off and runs lots more shows. If they book something I want to see, I'll go...if they don't, I'll stay home. Simple as that. With this first show, the only names on the list that interest me are Chuck Taylor, Shank and Tracy Smothers (mostly for his promo skills) and I've seen all three of those guys enough that not seeing them this time isn't that big of a loss for me. As for the whole "CCW or MECW?" thing, it really doesn't apply to me at all because honestly, neither company excites me in the slightest. Just look over at the "other promotions" board and see how much I tried to hype the CZW show in Indiana. Check out the review I wrote about the last IWA:EC show in West Virginia. Just today, I set up my plans to go to Delaware in June to go to CZW's Tournament of Death. I'm already getting hyped up about the possibility that Chikara's running a show in West Virginia in September. And to be even more honest, the reason I haven't been around the last few days is because on Sat., I went to Alabama to go to the IWA:DS Carnage Cup. These are the kinds of shows I enjoy and since I'm a loser with no life, I enjoy traveling around the country to go to these shows. The only reason I even try to go to ANY shows here in Evansville is because I keep wishing that just MAYBE someday there will be a wrestling company here in my hometown that I can get behind and support. As I've said before, I plan to continue to follow what's going on with CCW, MECW and even as much I hate to say it, NFW. If any of these companies put on a show I feel is worth seeing, I'll go. If they don't, I won't. It's really as easy as that for me.
Anyway, I'll get off the soapbox now. Thanks to all the guys who backed me up there. That's really cool that I'm not alone in my opinions. As for some of the other recent posts, nice review canadiandream! As for "nice persons" post, I don't see all of this as "drama". We're all just throwing out our opinions on what we would like to see (and probably never will) here in Evansville. As for something like WWE or TNA, I don't watch or follow either of those anymore. I gave up on WWE years ago. Sure they have a great match here and there, but it's all the stupid crap in between that I just couldn't take anymore. I used to tape WWE shows and watch them later so I could fast forward passed all the boring stuff and it got to the point where I'd watch a two hour show in about 20 minutes (literally!). Every once in a while, I'll see a commercial for Raw and it seems like all they do these days is hype the fact that Ozzy Osbourne or Bob Barker's going to be on their shows. Unless one of them is going to put on a 5 star match, I really have no interest in that at all. I did follow TNA for a while, only because I enjoy watching guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels (among others), but I finally gave up on them too when it became the "Hogan-fest" a few months ago. As for ROH, I went to the two shows they did in Indianapolis last year and enjoyed both of them very, VERY much. I don't follow what happens there as much as I'd like to, but whenever I do see something ROH-related, I usually enjoy it.

By the way, after I made that last post, I was thinking more about this whole "calling me out" thing and I realized something. If I really wanted to be a "smart", snobbish, douche bag, I could have one-upped Chris' comment by saying:
So, you'd rather go to a show that features a commentator who's best known for screaming "Puppies!" every time he sees fake t*ts (does he still do that?) then travel all over the place to see the kinds of talent I've seen in person just in the last six months....like Chris Hero, Necro Butcher, Yuko Miyamoto, Jon Moxley, JC Bailey, Sami Callihan, Frightmare, Nick Gage, Eddie Kingston, Thumbtack Jack, Danny Havoc, Drake Younger, The Osirian Portal, Masada, Hallowicked.....
OK, whatever dude!
Actually, to be serious, I respect the fact that you're giving so much support to something you are into. I've always said that if you enjoy something, enjoy it for all it's worth. It's just that after I made my last post, I started thinking about what I would have said if I wanted to be an a-hole and that was too good to not say.

No, Lawler is not allowed to say puppies any more. Because the Divas are now "Smart, powerful, and sexy". If someone accidentally gets a paper cut in a match the match is stopped temporarily, the trainer and EMT's come out and the ref puts on latex gloves. And when I say ref, I do mean ref because they no longer are allowed to have names and there are no more "wrestlers" only "superstars" and "entertainers". I can't remember what the match was, maybe a last man standing or something, but they even stopped a PPV gimmick match between Orton and Cena for blood when they were basically booked as wanting to put each other out of wrestling. Believe it or not the match (and I can't stand Cena) was actually decent until they completely killed it to treat Cena for his booboo. That is all of the "good" stuff you are missing by not watching WWE, cavedweller73.
