I mean this in the nicest way possible. I hate u. Haha. No really, it sounds awesome. I wishi i could have been there to see it!!
Haha! I don't blame you at all! I always kinda worry when I say that I'm going here and there to shows that someone's going to think, "Quit bragging, you idiot!"
Here's my thoughts on the show:
The show opened with some guy (he said his name, but I've already forgotten it) coming out and putting everyone down. Facade come out and attacked him. Then, David Day hit the ring and then Bulldozer and then Viper. last was The Murder Junkies (Juggulator and Sam Hain). I'm not sure what exactly all that was suppose to be, but basically, everyone ended up on the outside and Facade did an awesome flippy move on top of them all. I guess that was just a way to get all the guys who were hanging out in the back into something that was kind of like a match.
Zac Vincent vs Frightmare
This match was non-stop action from two of the best jr. heavyweights in the business. Vincent got the win, but so much happened in that match that I don't even remember how he won. After the match, both guys showed each other respect. It was a fantastic match!
Elkview Adam vs Bull Pain
This match was the low-light of the whole show, to me. Adam is great at coming up with unique stips for deathmatches, but he's not that great as an in-ring worker. And while I have a lot of respect for Bull Pain, he's so slow to watch in the ring. Plus, he "no-sold" everything Adam did. Basically, he just beat the living crap out of him and then finally, pinned him. After the match, Bull hit Adam in the balls with his bat, which was VERY painful looking.
Trik Nasty and TJ Phillips (with Woody Numbers) vs The Osirian Portal (Ophidian and Amasis)
GREAT match! The Osirian Portal are just awesome! They were pulling off all kinds of crazy tandem flippy moves and stuff. The match had a lot of typical tag team tactics like double-teaming behind the ref's back and stuff like that, but they didn't beat that into the ground. Amasis took most of the offense in the match and he sold like a million bucks! When Ophidian got the hot tag, they ended up throwing him out of the ring (right in front of me) and Woody Numbers beat him down while Nasty and Phillips got the pin on Amasis. After the match, Amasis was legit banged up.
Jon Moxley vs Eric Darkstorm
This match was a #1 contenders match for the IWA:EC heavyweight title, held by Rodrick Strong. Right after the match started, some music started playing. Everyone looked towards the curtain and out strolled CHRIS M'F'IN' HERO!!!!! That was a total surprise and I marked out for him, big time. He got on the mic and said that since he was the first and longest-reining champ, he should be in the match too and it became a three-way. At that point, I was really hoping it would be an elimination match so Darkstorm could get eliminated. No disrespect to him because he's good, but the idea of Hero vs. Moxley is too good to even imagine! The match basically turned into Hero and Mox taking turns beating down Darkstorm. Then, Mox locked in a submission move on Darkstorm and Hero rolled up Mox from behind and got the win. In a way, I'm kind of glad that they did something like that because even though Darkstorm is really good, he's already had a shot at Strong and Moxley's pretty much got every title in the indies these days (CZW, HWA and IPW).
Intermission:
Spent WAY too much money on DVDS, but I got to talk to Ophidian and he was really cool. I bought a DVD from him and he signed it for me. It was weird talking to him in the mask. I could never tell when he was actually looking at me. Haha!!! I could tell he was wearing glasses under the mask too. I'm guessing he doesn't wear those when he wrestles. Super nice guy! He told me that Amasis was banged up and would be out after the show.
"Omega" Aaron Draven (with Woody Numbers) vs Jason "The Gift" Kincaid
Omega is a heel now and played that role very well. It's funny about Kincaid, if you just saw a picture of him, you'd think he was an untrained backyarder, but the kid's actually really good. Sure, some of his moves are a bit sloppy, but he still pulls them off better then most! Between the chops, submission moves and high-flying moves, this match had a little bit of everything. There were some botches here and there, but overall, it was a good match. In the end, Kincaid got the win. Post-match, Trik Nasty and TJ Phillips ran in and beat on Kincaid. The Murder Junkies made the save and set up a match between them and Nasty and Phillips.
Thumbtack Jack vs Sami Callihan
When this match was announced for the show, I knew I was going to make the trip! I'll admit my mark-dom for both of these guys. I've talked to them both too and they're both really cool guys! This match was going to be interesting since TJ announced that he is going to retire from blood and gut deathmatches. His last deathmatch in the U.S. was last Sat. in Philly. This match was still VERY brutal though. Both guys chopped the living crap out of each other, so hard that they were both bleeding from the chest! The action was back and forth, with chops and submission holds. At one point, TJ said, "Enough of this!" and jumped out of the ring and grabbed a chair. The ref pulled it away from him and Sami locked on a crazy submission hold and TJ tapped out. Kind of an odd way to end a match from a guy who's had syringes stuck through his cheeks, but whatever....it was still a great match!
JC Bailey vs Madman Pondo
(Barbed-wire bat match)
They started the match "Japan style" by placing the bat in the middle of the ring and then Pondo and JC were on each side of the ring. They counted down from ten and both guys ran into the ring to grab the bat. Obviously, JC got it first, but Pondo grabbed his stop sign and quite literally bent it over JC's head! d**n, that was nasty! I know that lately it seems as though Pondo's been kind of getting slower in his matches, but when he's in a match like this, he can still hang with the best of them. The whole match was just plain SICK!!! They hit each other with the bat and suplexed each other onto it, all the usual stuff. Of the two, JC was bleeding the most. He was dripping blood all over the place, from his head, his chest, his back....everywhere. In the end, JC got the win and both guys showed each other respect and the fans showed them respect as well. Great match and it's awesome to have JC back, doing what he does best!
Kevin Sullivan vs Necro Butcher
This was a deathmatch/hardcore/brawling fan's dream match....and it delivered. Necro came out first and as Sullivan was being introduced and walking towards the ring, Necro jumped him and the brawl was on! They covered just about every inch of that gym too....even going outside at one point. Necro got busted open pretty quickly and man, he bled buckets! Sullivan had his spike and he went to town on Necro. At one point, there was mop and bucket and Necro hit Sullivan with the mop and then began slinging water all over the fans (I got away just in time!). When they went outside, me and a group of people followed. They didn't do much out there and made their way back inside. When I saw they were coming back, I got behind the open door and Necro looked at me through the little window! HAHA!!!! When they finally got into the ring, Sullivan got Necro into the "tree of whoa" and went for the running knee. Necro blocked it by sticking his fist up and punching Sullivan in the nuts. Sullivan went down and Necro pinned him. Kind of a crappy ending since Sullivan didn't even bleed, but still, it was a really fun brawl. As a sidenote, with all the talk of "legends" these days (here in Evansville anyway), THAT was how you book a legend. Though he didn't bleed and the match ended quickly, at least Sullivan didn't just come out, set Necro up in the corner, do his little running spin move, hit him with the running knee, pin him, get paid and go home! After the match, I looked down at my hands and actually had spots of Necro's blood on them. I'm not even sure when that happened! Haha!! I don't think I got it anywhere else on me.
After the show, I saw Amasis come out, so I ran back out to my car and grabbed the DVD, came back in and asked him to sign it, which he did. He was very gracious and nice. I then went to the bathroom to wash the blood off my hands. Pondo was in there, talking to some kids. Once they left, I said to him, "Hey! I don't want to interrupt anything, Pondo, but that was a great show." He said, "Thanks, man." I said, "I just saw you last Sat. in Evansville. I drove here from there actually." He had this kind of blank look on his face and said, "Oh, really?" I laughed and said, "Yeah." I think we were both thinking the same thing actually. He then laughed and said, "My mic work that night was better than tonight." I said, "Well, you had a LOT of material to work with that night." He just laughed.
After that, I made my 5 hour drive home. It was tough, but I made it and it was worth it!
