Call me a pessimist or a "glass is half-empty" kind of guy, but I have a bit of a hard time believing that a company that's only run one show three years ago is going to be able to pull off a show with that level of top talent. Especially since we've seen things like this before and they never happened. One thing that makes me question this is the fact that I recently read that Gregory Iron is taking some time off to heal from some injuries and quite honestly, there's no guarantee that he'll even come back to the business.
But, thanks for the head's up, Ike. I'm going to keep this on my radar and if it actually does happen, then count me in because that looks like an awesome show.

Agree 100%.....Im pretty sure these are the guys that announced Chuck, Generico and Daniels last year then canceled at the last minute. I did notice that Jimmy Rave liked their status, so maybe its legit. Guess we will find out soon.

I was wondering what the status was for this show. I've heard that there have been some commercials popping up for it, so I guess this is really going to happen....unless the whole thing gets scrapped at the last minute. All I can say is that if it does happen, the Gargano vs. Kozina match sounds worth it to me. Even Young vs. Taylor could be interesting....or at least, entertaining. I plan on checking this out.

First, and for most, this message is from VPW's head guy. VPW Resurrection will happen. There will be no cancellations. Everything you have seen on our FaceBook is accurate. Someone on this message board had mentioned how a wrestling show that has only had one show could pull off a card this big. VPW did only have one show and the reason that it only remained one show is because back in 2008 we did not have enough staff like we do now. Also we had to depend on renting a ring from someone else. Since then we have our own equipment. We have put a lot back in order to invest in a big show like this. Now that you know a little bit of history about VPW I would like to mention a few things. I have heard about Evansville wrestling shows and the fact that they do not draw big crowds. The promotions around here always try to outdo one another. VPW is not here to be in the Evansville wrestling wars. We would like to run shows here from time to time, but we won’t be making a base camp out of Evansville. Another thing I would like to say is I hear a lot of people talking about how they would like to see good wrestling here, but when IWA-Midsouth ran a show here in 2004 which featured the following: Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Chris Sabin, CM Punk, Delirious, Super Dragon, Austin Aries, Arik Cannon, Samoa Joe, Abyss, Petey Williams, and a whole bunch more big indy talent they only had a crowd of 25-30 people which is not very much for a card of that size. So, VPW returning after this show with a bigger card would depend on the turnout for the December 10 show. We are going to put on something special that night and know, without a shadow of a doubt, anybody coming to watch the show will be impressed. I sincerely hope that we are able to return to Evansville in the future. Any questions about future shows feel free to write us a message on the official VPW FaceBook.

Very good show last night from VPW. One of the better shows Evansville has seen in a while if you ask me. I'll put a review up later on when I have some more time.

Like i said before.....i thought the show last night was real solid. Sat front and center with Cavedweller and even though no fans showed up to see it, i was very entertained throughout the show. Id never heard of the venue, but thought it was a real good place to run a wrestling show. I dont know a lot of the guys names in the early matches but here is what i can remember.... Gregory Iron 3 way..... I didnt catch the guys names in the match with him, but i thought they were all pretty good. Cool to see Iron in person. It would be awesome if he could actually get into the rumble. In the end he lost the match but was the star of the match. I thought it was a solid opener. Formerly Shawn Williams vs Trainee...... This one may have went a little to long, but still wasnt a bad match. The former Ace, has really improved. Obviously been studying the european style, which was cool. Irish Airborne vs The Airborne really came out and woke up the crowd. Not as if the first two matches were that bad, but they just didnt involve the crowd like the Airborne did. Hats off to them for giving it 100% in front of such a small crowd. Their opponents had a great gimmick and were pretty good themselves. Id have to give this one the match of the night honors. Tons of awesome combo moves from both teams. In the end, the Airborne got the win. Kozina vs Gargano Chuck Taylor came to the ring with Gargano and was involved in the match throughout. Kozina is pro in there. Always in control. This was my first time seeing Gargano in person. For the kind of wrestling im used to seeing in the area, this was another real solid match. Chuck distracted Kozina long enough for Gorgano to get the win with a rollup. Rave v Sigmon Sigmon was billed from Germany but talked like he was more from Evansville. Rave was awesome with his interaction with the crowd. He got angry with us for clapping and causing Sigmon to roll out of the ring. He said something to the effect that he doesnt get paid by the hour and we should have known he was going to roll out. All in all, the match was decent. Ive never been a big Jimmy Rave fan, but he was better than i expected in this one. Chuck Taylor v Eric Young This was fantastic. Eric Young comes out and is convinced he is working a tag match. When he asked to bring out his partner, Chuck comes to the ring with Gargano. Young makes the ref give his shirt to Gargano then deems its shirts vs skins aka Him and Chuck vs the ring announcer and ref with Gargano calling the match. Young then locks up with ref Lucas and takes a bump into the corner and begs off. LOL. Young was in Rare form. FINALLY, order is restored and they have the actual match. Gargano hit Young with the Dragon Gate belt and cost him the match, but the comedy before the real match started is what made this one great. BJ vs Menace Id never heard of Menace before but he was much better in the ring than i expected. Your always going to get a good match out of Whitmer. Menace worked the mid section all match, but in the end it was Whitmer who got the win with the exploder. Going in, i didnt think this should have been the main event, but it was one of the better matches of the night. Hopefully, the VPW guys dont get to frustrated with the low crowd and give it up. I thought the show was great and would like to see more like it in this area. Thanks to everyone for all the love at the end of the show. I didnt know Ike Turner was so over in Evansville. I thought i was pretty hated around those parts. lol. All in all, it was a real good time.

I've been meaning to get on here and talk about last night, but wow, today's been busy for me. Anyway, Ike pretty much has summed it up. I thought last night was a really, really fun show. I'll go so far as to say that it was the most fun I've had at a wrestling show in Evansville since the VIP days. There was just something about this show that really clicked....everyone who was advertised showed up and the building (though it was in a questionable neighborhood) had a nice set up to it. The only real downer was the fact that the crowd was so small. Here's some of my thoughts on the matches:
Kyle Mathews vs. Gregory Iron vs. Eric Ryan I don't know who Mathews is, but I have seen Ryan before at an IPW show last month and I know he works mostly in Ohio. I had seen Irons before too at an IWAU show in Olney. Ryan worked well as a heel, even though he was trying to get over by making fun of Irons. Can you say "cheap heat"? But hey, it worked. Irons is just awesome, not only because of what he's had to over-come in his life but because he obviously loves what he does and is VERY dedicated to wrestling. There's a reason CM Punk put him over! Anyway, there was a botched when Ryan was eliminated from the match and it would have been a bit better if Irons had won, but otherwise, it was a strong opener.
AJ Youngblood vs. Arrik McGinnis I really had no idea who either of these guys were, but they were billed as being local guys. The match did go a bit long, but there wasn't anything about it that stood out as terrible. In fact, the match was much better than I would have expected.
Irish Airborne vs. Chase Owens & Jeff Connelly HEY!! Didn't I just see the Crist brothers beat the crap out of each other in Philly last week? What a minute....you mean they don't really hate each other? "IT'S STILL REAL TO ME, D*MMIT!!!" HA HA!!! Seriously though, I'd say this was match of the night as well! I've been saying for a long time now what a fan of the Crist Brothers I am and last night certainly proved it. As for Connelly & Owens, they looked good as well. I'm assuming they are a tag team in whatever version of NWA it is that runs in Kingsport, TN. I had never seen Connelly before but I had seen Owens at the Chikara show I attended in Tennessee back in Oct. At that show, he was in a match with Robert (Archibald Peck) Evans and Evans is so over-the-top awesome that Owens just never got much of a chance to show what he could do. He showed it a lot more in this match and both him and Connelly worked really, really well with Jake and Dave Crist.
Tony Kozina vs. Johnny Gargano I had high hopes for this match, since both of these guys are pretty high on "favorites to watch" list. However, something about this match never fully clicked. That's not to say there was anything terrible about it at all, it just wasn't quite as good as I was hoping for it to be. Maybe it was all the Chuck Taylor shenanigans that kinda killed for me. I don't know. The end wasn't that great, but still, there's little to complain about because it's always awesome to see guys like Kozina and Gargano work.
Jimmy Rave vs. Sigmon First of all, who was that guy calling himself Jimmy Rave?? When he walked out, I thought, "Who is that guy??" On the plus side of that, at least he didn't come out with a Guitar Hero guitar and acting like a buffoon. Sigmon worked alright as a heel. I had never seen him before. As Ike said, I too have never really been a huge Rave fan, but he did look solid in this match and being so this was my first time seeing him in person, that was kinda cool. The match had a weird finish in which Sigmon didn't seem to kick out of a pin when he was suppose to and the ref called for the bell. All in all, a so-so match.
Eric Young vs. Chuck Taylor This match was pure comedy gold. I'd go so far as to say that it was probably the most entertaining comedy match I've ever seen. Right off the bat, some how, Young turned the match into him and Taylor vs. the ref and the ring announcer with Johnny Gargano as the ref. The funniest part was Taylor falling to the mat and saying, "I'm confused!" as he pretended to cry. Once everything got back into order and the actual match happened, there really wasn't much that stood out about it as great. But again, there wasn't anything terrible about it either. The ending was a little too "Memphis" for my tastes, but again, that was a small price for all the comedy gold in the first half of the match.
Menace vs. BJ Whitmer I have no clue who this Menace guy was but man, someone's been watching himself a heaping helping of Hayabusa matches! And in all honesty, Menace was WAY better than I expected him to be. He was actually hanging in there with Whitmer, who, as always, looked like a billion dollars (why he's not being used in ROH right now is beyond me!!). In the end, Whitmer put Menace in a nasty-looking submission hold and he tapped out. I've noticed that Whitmer's been using more submission holds as finishers lately and in my opinion, it's great. At the end, Whitmer put Menace over and the whole show came to a nice ending.
All in all, I had a blast at this show. The whole atmosphere of it was so much better than anything else I've seen in Evansville in a while now. I too hope that VPW does another show at some point. It would have just been a lot nicer if more people had actually showed up for it. But, then again, it's Evansville we're talking about here. So, it's hard to get my hopes too high. Thank you to everyone who put this show on, everyone who worked it, Ike and Morris who made it even more entertaining for me personally and everyone who talked to us after the show.

First of all thank you guys for your post of the show. Sorry I missed it because of work and there was no way I could have taken off this weekend or even left early.
Sorry about crowd size because, this is type of show I hope will come back again. I could be wrong but if not for the message board I would not have know about it. I think advertising was a big problem. I heard something about commercials but I never saw any. Everybody I had talked to did not even know there was a show going on. Not sure how much location played into it. I would love to help next time by handing out fliers or what else would be needed.
Ike as far as your popularity, we have had our differences in the past but the bottom line is we want the same thing and that is too have the best wrestling shows in Evansville. How we get there may not always be the same and those wrestlers we like might not always be the same and that is more than okay with me. Sorry I missed the chance to hang out with you guys.

Ike thank you very much for posting that. It came at a time when I have been suffering wrestling burn out so it means allot. This goes a long way in getting me out of my funk. Thanks to those who asked rather good or bad.
