Hmmm......................... Well, it appears Evansville might be filling up with new wrestling promotions! ..........and that's NOT a good thing!! Don't get me wrong... Normally, competition is a good thing... if any of them will be anything worth watching... but, instead... all we have is: CCW = Dead (doesn't count) NFW = Master Rich had a good thing, but killed his promotion with backyarders, lack of consistent storylines, lack of knowledge of the business and runs 18 matches, which sends the crowd home @ 1am! Timber running @ the CK = Not sure what to say - nice guy I guess?! His show................ LMFAO MECW = Heard a lot of great things... I'll believe it when I see it! Wildfire = Snore Now... "Sandman" - Eric Marks apparently wants to run a show in Evansville April 24th ... Are you F'ing kidding me? Between... Master Rich, Timber and Sandman ... all you have are "no talent - greenhorns" who are choosing to run their own show simply because no one else will book them!!!!!!!! THIS is what's wrong with the wrestling business these days!!!! If you have access to a wrestling ring, then I guess you can run a show!!!!!!! Hmmmmmmmmmm....................................

Everybody is entitled to his/her opinion and, to play devil's advocate, I'll take the other side of this debate. We've adopted a system in the USA where anyone can start a business and everyone has the right to pursue his/her dreams. So, the Eric Ackers', John Collins', Rudy Charles', Jason Brileys', Master Richs', Walt Barrons', Timbers', Eric Marks', etc. all certainly had/have the right to promote a show in Evansville.
And all of these so-called "real promoters" who have ran Evansville have failed (Bert Prentice, Mike Samples, Mark Vance, Shelby Adthingy, Ian Rotten, etc.) so why does it matter if a "greenhorn" gives it a run? Weren't Gulas, Welch, Jarrett, Watts, Mushnick, Owen, Gagne, Attkinson, Graham, Crockett and McMahon all greenhorns once? Are you still following me? What qualifications do you believe is needed to "promote" a wrestling show? Is there a skill-set evaluation or some achievement documentation required that I don't know about? Or, does someone simply need a market, the capital, some wrestlers, a venue, a ring, special event liability insurance, etc?

While you have some valid points... I'm simply saying... if you don't know what you're doing, then DON'T TRY IT!
It's as simple as that! And, yes... get properly trained in the wrestling business AND in regular business administration as well.
Otherwise, you're wasting your time and efforts and wasting the time of the loyal wrestling fans who give blood just to come watch your crappy show!
None of these names mentioned will ever attempt to do anything right. CCW has had 8 years to try and do it right ... but, nothing but inexperienced, no clue, don't care a bit jokes run it!
To address your "greenhorn" scenario ... most of those individuals you mentioned (McMahon etc.) grew up with wrestling, have respect for the business AND never tried to "run a show" until they HAD A CLUE and were ready!!!
Look, all I am saying is ... these guys are only putting on a show because they can't get booked anywhere else. They will make a mochary of this industry (yes, even worse than McMahon) and will lose a bunch of money because they didn't do a d@mn thing right and what crowd they will get - will laugh their asse$ off during the whole show and then eventually all the thousand and one promotions in Evansville will kill the town!!
Oh, don't forget about Tim Jackson ... the only thing he did right though - was he advertised.
Hmmmm... my neighor has a trampoline; maybe I should run a wrestling show in Evansville! ;D

Evansville is on a "believe it when i see it" kind of basis for me. Over the years, many have come and many have gone, but one thing they all had in common was they all sucked. Bad. Theres still New Focus, which is just plain unwatchable in my book and CCW. CCW has some great history. To say it doesnt would show you dont know a whole lot. There have been a ton of huge names in the indys come through CCW. CM Punk, Hero, Whitmer, Rotten, Pondo, Necro Butcher, Jimmy Jaccobs, Corp, American Kickboxer, Chuck Taylor, Drake Younger, Tracy Smothers......the list really goes on and on. The fact is, i could really care less to see what most of the Evansville fans want to see. I dont want to go sit and watch 50 plus year old wrestlers walk around outside a ring and taunt a crowd for 20 minutes, get in the ring and take 1 bump and be done. Just not my thing. If you cant draw a show with Punk, Dragon, Joe, Styles, Daniels, Hero, Abyss, Sabin and more, then you are never going to draw with solid wrestling in Evansville. Its sad but true.

After lurking around on this board for a while now, I thought I'd jump in and throw in my two cents about pro wrestling in Evansville. I agree with Ike. I'll believe there's good wrestling in Evansville when I see it and as of right now, I don't see that happening anytime soon....or ever really. When I heard about this new MECW thing, I was interested, until I read on their My Space thing that the first show is going to be headlined by Lawler. I don't blame them for booking him and I'm sure they'll draw a ton of fans just with his name alone, but it's not my thing. Don't get me wrong, back in the 1980's, I used to go see Lawler and Bill Dundee beat the living crap out of each other every Wed. night at the Coliseum and those were some fun, fun days. But, they're long gone and when you compare what those guys do now to the kind of talent that's out there now and the things the younger guys do, there's no comparison. It's just like when I went to Madman Pondo's IWA:East Coast anniversary show back in Nov. Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore was there and that was the most mind-numbingly boring match I think I've ever sat through in my whole life. He was suppose to go up against Tracy Smothers and that would have made that match more entertaining just because Tracy's insanity is fun to watch, but he missed the show and Eugene faced Vance Desmond. A good portion of the match involved Eugene sticking his thumb up the referee's butt and then putting it in Desmond's face....I wish I was making this up, but I'm not! It was every bit as bad as it sounds! And the sad thing was when I was outside before the show, waiting the get in, there were these kids who were as excited to see Eugene as if Hulk Hogan himself was going to be there. Call me insane, but I was a bit more excited to get to see Yuko Miyamoto (the Big Japan Deathmatch Champion) and the match between Incoherence (Hallowicked and Frightmare) and Irish Airborne (which was an AWESOME match, by the way!).
I'm not trying to be a "smart" fan and say one style of wrestling is better than another. I've always said that if you enjoy something, enjoy it as much as possible. I just think that in my own opinion, pro wrestling in Evansville is dead and that's sad. As some know about me, I travel around the country to go to wrestling shows and I plan to keep doing that as long as I can, but it would be nice to have a "home fed" that I could support here in Evansville too, especially considering the history this town has with pro wrestling.

New year maybe a new beginning to all. Soon Indiana pro-wrestling will have laws. Promoters will have to have licenses. People of the evansville ares love wrestling; always have. I myself love wrestling as much as anyone. The sport has always had it's high and lows. This is just a major low. Eventually, the tide will turn. I just think all the promotions instead of going on there own. All get together and start over. Be a better product, have more funds. I just think it's time to start over.

Thanks for the welcome and kind words. Like I said, I've been lurking around here for a while and I figured I'd say something, since there are at least a few people around here that wish we had something we could support here in town. I don't know or even think there are any answers, but I'm on board to try to help how ever I can.
