Super sad news to start the day:

I don't know if Damage ever worked in CCW or not, but I know he did work a lot of IWA-MS shows...at least until that whole weird "feud" thing between Billy Gram and Ian. I saw him in person several times at CZW shows when I'd go up to Philly. I think the match that stands out the most is the one he had with Jon Moxley at TOD8. That match was just INSANE!!! During that one, Damage pulled out an electric saw (it was "gimmicked", meaning the blade was dulled) but the visual of Damage "carving" Moxley's head and dried blood pealing from his forehead was one of the sickest visuals I've ever seen! At the moment, it literally looked as if he was slicing his head like a Thanksgiving turkey. Of course, Moxley sold it like a billion dollars! Come to think of it now, I really miss Jon Moxley. Anyway, a year later, at TOD9, Damage worked a non-tournament match with Drake Younger and I remember at one point, he was standing on Younger's head and blood was literally squirting from Drake's forehead.
Back in 2010, I met Damage at the JC Bailey Memorial show in Indianapolis. During the intermission, he was by the door and talking to some people and so I figured, "What the heck?" and went over to say hi to him. He was a pretty intimidating dude, but once I got up to him, he was a super, super cool, respectful and just downright nice guy.
In recent years, the word on the street was that he had been in and out of jail, for reasons that I never knew. I also always assumed that he had some health issues. The fact that he would be big and fat one time you'd see him and then slimmed down and almost skinny the next and then, big and fat once again the next couldn't have been right. I never knew what was the cause of that either. Apparently, his death is being ruled a suicide. Quite a bummer, because, say what you will about deathmatch workers, but Damage was one of my favorites.
