The number 1 think i noticed about the show last night was the fact that is started at 7:30 on the dot. Good stuff. And the chilli cheese nachos were spectacular. The show opened with all the names announced for the "King of Evansville" tournament.....
Smokey C def. Dr Blue, (kid in the red trunks)
This wasnt as bad as it could have been for a random 3 way. I thought smokey C was pretty solid and held the match together real well. Dr Blue whipped out a nice belly to belly in there and seems to be improving a bit. Overall, short and sweet opener.
Shank def. Dre Jacobs to advance in the KOE tourny.....
I thought this was the best match of the night. Shank has really came into his own. He was given a coloring book and crayons by some fans. Jacobs stole the crayons and broke them, setting the stage for the match. Overall the match had some real good back in forth action on both sides. Shank hit the DVD for the W.
Lonestar def Chris Hall via DQ
Pretty solid match here with two big fellas. Finally Hall used the bell on Lonestar and tried to do the postmatch beat down until BJ Whitmer ran in to make the save with a steel chair.
Dave Crist def Micus Silva to advance in the KOE tourny.....
I kind of expected this match to be a little better but was still good by CCW standards. There were some real nice spots of fast action but that was usually followed by some slow headlocks and what not. The match ended with some reversals and a quick roll up by Crist to get the win. At the end, Crist hugged Silva and put him over as being "really good".
LT Faulk def Boogie Woogie Boy to advance in the KOE tourny.....
This match kind of drug on for me. The 20 minute entrance didnt really help get the match off the the right start. Both guys were solid in the ring, but im never a big fan of a match where more time is spend walking around the ring than actually in it. The end saw LT's partner, Drew Haskins run in and distract the ref while LT drilled Boogie with an object. LT got the 1-2-3 after that. Boogie had a hard time making it to the back as he fell out of the ring and appeared to be real dazed by the shot to the head.
BJ Whitmer def Drew Haskins to advance in the KOE tourny.....
Real good match here. BJ def still has it. Haskins has a solid gimmick with the all pink, pretty boy thing. As bad as i wanted to see the wrist clutch exploder, the match was still action packed and real good. The end came when LT tried to hit BJ, but BJ reversed the irish whip and he hit Haskins instead.
JP Lightning and 2 Tuff Tony went to a no contest....
Real real good brawl here. I thought it actually was a little better than the main event. Tony is much much better when he is serious and appeared to be giving it his all in this one. JP is beyond over as the villian. The crowd legit hates his guts. JP came to the ring with his arm in the sling and sd the match was off because he wasnt cleared to compete. As soon as Tony turned his back, JP attacked him. He pulled off a back drop to Tony on the ring apron, which i marked for. Im always a fan of moves on the ring apron. In the end, Tony had JP in a submission move, working JP's bad shoulder and Scarlett ran down as it seemed she was ready to take her 5 minutes w JP, but she threw powder in Tony's eyes and they handcuffed him to the ropes......then the beatdown was on. The crowd ate it up. Good stuff.
Juicy Jimmy & Kaige Kutler def Necro and Pondo....
Your standard Necro chaos in this one. He demanded a trash bin be brought to the ring pre match and then hit everyone with it, almost Pondo even. They brawled all around the arena. A few highlights would be Necro getting two fans to hold each end of a chair and whipping Jimmy into it. Also, he had a lead pipe and was acting as if he was sword fighting Jimmy with it. Jimmy returned fire with a wet floor sign. In the end, it looked as if Necro and Pondo were going to cruise to W's when the Convic returned and attacked them. It turned into a 3 on 2 brawl and Jimmy got the cover on Pondo after placing a chair on Pondo's ankle and stomping it.
Overall it was a really solid show, especially for CCW. Didnt really have to many down moments. They keep bringing in talent like Necro, BJ and Crist and i may have to start coming more often.
