Here's what happened at last night's show. I didn't catch the names of a few of the guys I had never seen before, but I'll try my best. When I got to the show, there wasn't nearly as many people waiting around as there was for the last St. Louis Anarchy show and overall, the draw for this show was slightly smaller, but it was still fairly strong. The overall feel of the show was slightly different this time, since this was really more of an ACW show then a LWA/St. Louis show.
Pre-show match
Dingo vs. ??
I have no idea who the guy was that Dingo was facing. He was a small, skinny guy with a mask and a Lady Gaga t-shirt. He's probably one of Dingo's students. Dingo pretty much destroyed him and pinned him pretty quickly. After the match, Portia Perez and Super Electro ran into the ring. Perez beat up the masked guy with a wrench and then tried to cut a promo, but the mic didn't work....ah....indy wrestling! Gotta love it! Once they got her a mic that worked, she started rambling about really nothing, but I guess the point was that she was setting herself up as a heel. Electro is a masked guy who's suppose to be a robot or something....actually, it was pretty obvious who he was, so I kinda guessed where this was all leading later in the show.
The Smurf Nation (JC Bravo & Chingo Smurf) vs. The Hooligans vs. Gorgeous Jordan & Slim Sexy vs. Extreme Halloween??
I'm not sure on the names of the Halloween team, but they were two masked guys who were sort of like a backyard version of Incoherance...with absolutely none of Hallowicked or Frightmare's talent. The Smurf Nation is a group from Texas who all wear blue tights and JC Bravo has a goofy haircut. Jordan was the big, fat, nearly naked guy from the last St. Louis show and his partner, Slim Sexy is another guy from Texas. He sorta looks like Danny Demanto after and all-night Old Country Buffet run. The match started off kind of slow and not all that great. The Halloween guys worked the majority of it with the fat guys while The Hooligans pretty much stayed in the corner. The most impressive move during this part of the match was when Gorgeous Jordan did a dive through the ropes to the outside. I gotta say, that was quite impressive! The first team eliminated was the Halloween team, with Jordan and Slim Sexy next. Once it got down to just The Smurfs and The Hooligans, the match actually got pretty good. There were lots of fast moves and quick tags. At one point, I said to myself, "Wow....when did The Hooligans get this exciting?" They were WAY over with the fans too, since they're from St. Louis. The match ended on a down note though with Bravo getting a quick roll-up pin on one of The Hooligans. The crowd didn't like that at all. Overall, not a great match, but not completely horrible either.....at least once the first two teams were gone. It would have been better if it was The Hooligans vs. The Smurfs to start with.
Franco D'Angelo vs. Mat Fitchett
D'Angelo is a large, jacked-up dude with bad tattoos and a spray-on tan. Fitchett was way over with the crowd, since he's another hometown boy and all. The match wasn't very good and nothing of real note happened. In the end, Dingo ran out and pushed Fitchett off the top rope and D'Angelo pinned him.
After that match, that annoying girl from the last St. Louis show came out and started screaming again. I still have no idea what her name is, but she's some kind of manager, I guess. Anyway, she was screaming her head off and one of the ACW "officials" got in the ring and told her about how ACW using many women athletes and that if she was going to be a part of ACW, she'd have to do more then just come to the ring in short skirts. This brought out Lady Poison. Poison is the "alter-ego" of Jessica James (Rachel Summerlyn's tag partner). She's kind of a cross between Daffney and Nikki Roxx when she was doing that "voodoo queen" gimmick in TNA. She crawled into the ring and stalked the annoying chick. She then grabbed her and did her "kiss of death" move, in which she kissed her on the mouth and spit green mist into her mouth. I gotta admit that that is a unique use of green mist. After that, Athena was able to sneak into the ring from a door near me, which led to...
Lady Poison vs. Athena
Athena reminds me a lot of Jazz (from the old ECW) or Miss Texas (or Miss Jacqueline...or whatever name you prefer). She ran into the ring and attacked Poison from behind and the match was on. The match was actually pretty good. There were a lot of stretching/submission moves used. At one point, Poison had Athena in a move where she had her leg bent one way and her head back the other to the point that they were almost touching. In the end, they were fighting in the corner when Athena dropped Poison back but her leg got caught in the "tree of whoa". Poison then crawled under her on her back and did the "kiss of death" move while she hung upside down. She then fell back into the ring and Poison pinned her.
Shorty Biggs & Billy McNeil vs. Sky De Lacrimosa & Khris Wolfe
Nothing much to note here. Biggs was way over, again, because of being a hometown guy. Sky & Wolfe were suppose to be vampires, or something, I guess. Biggs did pull off some decent moves for a guy his size, but other then that, the match was pretty lame. Biggs and McNeil got the win.
St. Louis Street Fight
Darin Childs vs. Shawn Vexx
They really hyped this match as being something huge on the web site a few weeks ago. Apparently, these two have been having a brutal feud down in Texas. They brawled around the ring and ended up beating each other up over by the bar and throwing each other into lots of chairs. In the end, there was a table brought into the ring and set up in the corner. Childs suplexed Vexx through it. Then, a table was set up outside the ring. Vexx threw Childs off the top rope and through that table and got the pin on him. A decent brawl, but I was expecting quite a bit more.
Next was intermission. Neil Diamond Cutter was over at the merch tables. It's nice to see that he didn't seem to have any lasting effects from the Carnage Cup two weeks ago. Man....he took a BEATING at that show!!!!
ACW Title match
Matthew Palmer (c) vs. Davey Vega
Palmer is a young guy who, in some ways, almost reminds me of Bryan Danielson....but with much less talent. And that's not to say Palmer isn't good, because he is....it's just that Danielson is that much better. The match was alright. There were quite a few botches and miscues, but there were also a few really well-timed moves as well. My biggest problem with the match was the fact that Vega kept playing up to the crowd....to the point that it almost made Palmer look bad. I think I now know why some people say that Vega is over-rated. He didn't have time to play with the crowd when he was working against Davey Richards last time I saw him. And Vega is good....just not quite as good as he obviously thinks he is. In the end, Palmer got the pin on him, however, Vega's foot was on the ropes. Palmer saw this and tried to get the match restarted, but just then, Dingo hit the ring. He took out Palmer and then focused on Vega. He picked Vega up and raised his hand and then turned on him and beat the CRAP out of him. He gave him three VERY stiff pile-drivers and was screaming, "You broke my neck, now I'm gonna break yours!" Mat Fitchette then ran in and attacked Dingo and then Pierre Abernathy, Evan Gilestico and Gary Jay all ran in to attack Fitchette. This brought out Scot Summers, Matt Walsh and ACH who ran the heels off. Walsh (another WAY over hometown guy) then challenged all four of them to face all four of them (Walsh, Summers, ACH and Fitchette) in the main event.
ACW Tag Team Title match
Rachel Summerlyn & Jessica James (c) vs. MsChif & Daizee Haze vs. Portia Perez & Super Electro
Before this match even started, during the entrances, Perez threatened to hit me with that wrench for taking her picture and Summerlyn tried to punk me out for not popping enough....no love for the CaveDweller tonight! HA HA!!!! The match was good. Perez & Electro worked most of the match with MsChif and Haze, who both looked as awesome as ever. There was so much fast-paced action going all over the place that honestly, I can't even remember many of the high spots. Electro got the pin on MsChif and eliminated her and Haze first. Summerlyn and James then snuck in behind them and quickly rolled-up both Perez and Electro for the pin and then win. After the match, I expected Electro to pull off his mask and show who is was, but he didn't He was obviously Robert "R.D." Evans who's working this angle in which he's in love with Perez but she hates him. So, it sucked that we didn't get another awesome promo from Evans! The guy's a great talker.....which is why, I'm sure, that he's now being used in ROH as part of the new Embassy. Anyway, Perez and Elctro beat the crap out of James and Summerlyn until Haze and MsChif made the save. After all of the, JT LaMotta came out and cut a promo saying that Haze needed to be with a real man and that no one in the locker room wanted her. This obviously brought out Delirious who attacked JT....which led to.....
Delirious vs. JT LaMotta
I'm not sure what happened to Skyler Skelly, who was suppose to face Delirious, but he wasn't there. I remember JT from the last show and he wasn't very impressive. He's decent, but nothing special. However, as we all know, when you're int he ring with someone the caliber of Delirious, it doesn't take much to look good. And the match was very entertaining. Delirious did all of his usual, goofy spots and was scaring JT all over the building. Once the match got serious, the fight was on....and it was good. Delirious hit JT with some of the stiffest chops I've ever seen....or heard and he was throwing JT all over the place...in the ring, out on the floor....all over. I don't exactly remember how, but Delirious got the win. After the match, he called out Haze and had her do a "Dudley headbutt" onto JT's groin.
Main Event
The Submission Squad (Pierre Abernathy & Evan Gilestico), Gerald (Gary) Jay & Dingo vs. Scot Summers, Matt Walsh, Mat Fitchette and ACH
I don't even know where to begin with this one. First of all, Summers is the sorta "franchise player" of ACW. He's a nut too! He's sort of like Perry Saturn, John Kronus and Rick Steiner all rolled into one....if all those guys were all drunk and covered in goofy tattoos. Walsh isn't much to write home about but he's got a good look and can work up a crowd really well. ACH is just awesome! He's a modern day high-flyer, kind of like Rich Swann or AR Fox. The match was ALL OVER the place. So many quick tags, hard strikes, bodies flying all over the place....I couldn't even keep up. At one point, Summers threw Dingo into the crowd and some girl (a fan) tried to attack him. Dingo went CRAZY and pushed her back and threatened to hit her.....man, they really need to be careful with those $1.00 beers at these shows!!!!!! Rachel Summerlyn (who just happened to be milling around at that point) had to break things up. It was kind of scary. When it was all said and done, Dingo was holding his neck, which was also scary considering what's happened to his neck. Also, at one point, Abernathy threw a chair at ACH and looked legit p*ssed at him. The whole situation got kind of scary for a little while. Once things calmed down a bit in the ring, Fitchette took a hell of a beating until things fired up again. At one point, Gary Jay ended up dropping ACH through a table beside the ring and he looked to be legit hurt. In the end, Scot Summers speared Evan Gilestico through a table that was set up in the corner and then Walsh pinned him. WHAT AN INSANE MATCH!!!! I can't say it was the greatest match I've ever seen, but man, it sure was fun to watch. After the match, Abernathy, Jay and Dingo left. Everyone else was still in the ring, but only Walsh and Summers were standing. Walsh then picked up Gilestico and continued to beat the crap out of him until Summers pretty much had to pull him off and tell him to stop. Summers then got on the mic and thanked everyone for coming out and that was it.
Overall, I can't say the show was as good as the last St. Louis show. But it was still good. The first half wasn't much to write home about, but the second half was AWESOME!!! The biggest downsides to the show were the fact that Masada wasn't there (I find it hard to believe that DJ Hyde was able to pay him more money to work a CZW show in Philly...but, I guess he did) and the fact that Robert Evans wasn't officially on the show....other then him being under the Super Electro mask...meaning that he didn't cut any promos or do his goofy little dance and lip sync moves to "Don't Stop Believing". Still, I enjoyed it.
The next shows are St. Louis Anarchy shows. The first one is on April 8th in Granite City, Illinois and is featuring Davey Richards (which is why he won't be working the IWA-MS show in Selvin now). I won't be able to make that one, but then the next one in O'Fallon is going to be on May 21st and as long as nothing else pops up, I plan on checking that one out.
Pre-show match
